South Sound Food Summit

Lost Peacock Creamery giving out tastes at the 2017 Food Summit.

Join friends, neighbors, and fellow community members on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at the Lacey Community Center for a celebration of local food! We are lucky to live in an area with an abundance of farms, ranches, and community gardens, as well as a wide variety of value-added food products and numerous resources for people interested in our local food system. The Food Summit will have something for everyone, and we are eager to bring together farmers, ranchers, youth, families, elders, restaurateurs, community organizations, and those they serve to share in a fruitful day of experiences and connections.

At this year’s Food Summit, we encourage you to create your food adventure! You can attend skill-building workshops focused on growing, cooking, and processing food in the morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.. In the afternoon, we invite you to learn more about the importance of local food to our economy, our physical health, and the health of our entire community through a series of fun and informative talks. This year, we are excited to debut our Food Summit Market! Starting at 12PM, the Market will feature local CSAs, food vendors, info booths, and more. There will also be beer and cider tastings, food trucks, fun activities for the kids, and a few fun surprises.

If you love food, want to learn more about food in our community, or are interested in growing your food, then this is the event for you. We look forward to seeing you, and your family, on Saturday, March 14. Event Registration will open January 10, 2020, follow the South Sound Food System Network’s Facebook page for event updates!
