Environment Action Team
The environment of our community contributes to everyone’s health.
The Environment area of Thurston Thrives drew on the expertise and participation of key people in our community for areas like air quality, water quality, waste reduction, vector and zoonotic disease prevention, and emergency preparedness to develop the strategy. The physical environment of Thurston County – its air, water, animals and other aspects of our surroundings and the systems we live in – connects to many health conditions such as asthma, foodborne illness, and cancer. This strategy aims to ensure that the environment of our community contributes to the health of all residents.View Strategy Map
Climate & Clean Energy
The Climate and Clean Energy Work Team includes members of various Thurston Thrives action teams, along with community representatives, interested in addressing climate change and promoting clean energy within Thurston County. Its purpose is to coordinate and provide focus and accountability, among various community agencies and organizations, for work that addresses climate change and clean energy, especially as these efforts relate to public health. This group focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions through renewable energy, energy efficiency, and transportation. Its goals are to improve coordination and visibility around climate change and clean energy, while developing a county-wide clean energy program proposal for presentation to the community and to elected officials. This will include an inventory of existing clean energy efforts.View Strategy Map
